Benefits Of A College Fair

A college education is a necessity in today’s time but “does the cost of college out weight the benefits?”. Growing up my mother always told me “you can’t afford a family on a “Dairy Queen” salary. There are multiple pros and cons of a college education such as better a career, with less manual labor, pay, knowledge and career advancement among multiple other opportunities. There are also cons such as the price of college tuition the damage to your credit that comes with unpaid student loans and the amount of time it takes to gain a college degree. I myself think that the benefits of college outweigh the cost.

A college education is one of the most important things in life. It determines whether you will be able to follow your dreams and have a job that you are passionate about. Although some people may think that it will lead to more bad than good and that it will cost the United States a lot of money, college should be free because it is the only fair way that everyone would be able to have the same opportunity to get a good education and it will benefit, not only the students, but the nation as a whole.

As the gateway to the American middle-class shrinks and companies wrestle for top spots in the economy, employers and organizations seek the most prestigious young adults and graduates. In today’s modern society, this means that people with college degrees will land jobs that others don’t. Many citizens believe a college education is unnecessary to make a sufficient living. This might be true on some occasions, but a college education has a clear impact on your future. College might not be for everyone, but those who complete their education reap the benefits. At Molina high school we have college fairs every school year. On January the 11, 2015 we had around 12 colleges the students could explore. For example, the university of Texas at San Antonio. university of Texas at Dallas, the university of north Texas, the university of Texas tech, Texas A&M, etc. The students could ask questions and see that they are interested in. Even freshman and sophomore could explore and know how to start something that depends their future.

On January 26, I had the opportunity to attend The Major Fair, an event in which the academic departments of FSU showcased their programs and gave information about various majors. Originally, I believed that I would not benefit from attending this event, but my perspective has changed. Although attending this event was mandatory for all students who enrolled in Freshman Seminar 2, The Major Fair allowed me to gain insight into the many majors and minors offered at this university. By the time I left the event, I received information that related to my intended major, which is chemistry, and the other programs that I found interesting and beneficial, which are the honors program and the 3+2 dual program.

There are many choices and paths to choose when the time comes to attend college however, a question to ask is, is it worth it? If decided to attend college, the following decision to be made revolves around an area of study one would like to pursue and the topic of study that will be available for them. Though many can further their education in different ways, a couple of ways consist of attending a four year college (private/ public) or a community college. Not going to college at all is the other alternative, but is it really a smart idea? Most adults have continuously told young students all through high school to attend college. A student’s chance of economic success in the future can be risen due to a college education. Judith Scott-Clayton, who is an assistant professor of economics and education at Teachers College at Columbia University states, “Individuals with bachelor’s degrees earn about 60 percent more than those with just a high school diploma, who in turn earn about 40 percent more than high school dropouts.” Students who seek higher education, are more likely to experience a better future and a better life. The cost of going to college may seem overwhelming at times however, the experiences and education obtained throughout college is priceless in regards to the way one interacts with others on a global basis, has a stronger job stability, and has better employment benefits.

As of today, college is no longer an option or privilege, it’s a necessity. College education is the most important education of them all because it sets in stone the rest of your life. Higher education is touted to lead to a number of benefits, including financial security and prosperous career. In fact, about 84 percent of Americans claim that a higher education is very important to get ahead in life” (Vista Success). Furthering my education is highly important in life because a college degree can dictate a lot of things such as income and job position. Getting a bachelor’s degree is the right decision for me because it’s an important asset that will give me advantages in my career such as in salary, job security, and long life

Now everyone can get an education if they wanted to, community colleges or a university can help people get a career to succeed. Some students dont really have enough money to go to a university because is really expensive but there is a solution community college can help everyone earn their associate's degree and transfer in the future. Community colleges gives students the opportunity to get the same education as a university but with less money. Community colleges should not be free for many reasons , higher taxes, a lot of people on waiting list, students not taking classes serious, and poor quality classes.

I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have attended Lone Star College-CyFair. When I arrived, I was not sure what to expect. I think I was quite nervous, because I really did not have a strong sense of direction. But I believed in myself, and the thing that amazed me right away was how much the wonderful people at Lone Star believed in me, too. My first points of contact in admissions and administration were wonderful, and really set a tone.

There are many things for you to enjoy and have a fun experience at college. You can meet new people there, and become friends. You can also get involved in sports. For example, you can play baseball/softball, football, tennis, cross-country, and volleyball. You will get to know the players you play with maybe you will have the same classes as them or same hobbies. You can also have a fun experience by joining clubs or organizations with people who share your interests. Some colleges have different clubs/organizations for almost anyone. Some clubs may include art club, criminal justice club, math club, rad tech club, student government association, and Latin American Club. You can also meet people in the clubs/organizations. You can also help people out in the community while being in the clubs. You can also meet people in the clubs/organizations. The clubs and organizations can get you familiar with your new community or

Career fair/college fair. The career fair will include different companies and organizations from the community. The college fair will include different colleges and universities along with scholarships. Also seniors and juniors will also be able to go over college and career questions with their counselor.

Why go to college is a question many people debate with. The majority of people are not aware of the substantial benefits of attending college. With the rapid shift in today’s economy having a college degree is a major key. According to article written by Fatou Faal, “The United States has been transformed from manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education can be compared to that of a high school diploma education forty years ago.” The benefits of college prepare and shape you for today’s world.

Many times the reputations associated with community college is that they are “less academically serious”, “the lazier choice”, or that “anyone can get in.” But as times start to change and different factors are put into consideration, these accusations are not true. In fact, community colleges may actually seem like the smarter choice especially to start off with.

How you want to direct yourself in succeeding in that goal. You might be someone that doesn’t chose to go to college, which is whatever because college isn’t for everyone. College brings us new opportunities in life. I was very interested in Augustana University during the college fair because they have sports, many majors, study abroad, and more!

Students often wonder what career path they will choose in the future to support their family and have a brighter future. Some students question whether attending college is worth their time, but research suggests that students who study at postsecondary institutions will benefit in the long run. If students want to have a successful future, to be able to support their family, and have a higher income, they will need some sort of higher level education.
