Wellness Wellness is something that a lot of people have different definitions for, as well as categories. Wellness is a driven approach to health encompassing healthy living. From a Christian point of view, we base our idea of what wellness is off of something called a wellness wheel. The wellness wheel is based off of what God tells us in the Bible and basically shows all of the different parts of wellness and gives us a better idea of it overall. We can categorize wellness based off this wheel as a push towards healthy living or health education. In order to develop a wellness program there are several things that should be taken into consideration. First, you must develop your own personal perception of what you feel wellness is and how to stay well. Secondly, you must know what the pros and cons are for being fit. Then finally you must set immediate goals to obtain your level of wellness. The main thing you need to keep in mind is that developing a healthy life style early in life is a key factor in preventing diseases and improving one quality of life.
Each part enhances supports and affects the others. Individual wellness is reflective of how each of these factors is addressed.
Wellness according to the National Wellness Institute is a process of being aware of making choices towards a more successful existence (Arloski, pg. 13). Wellness is also a way of life, a choice and efficient channeling of energy, the mind spirit and body and acceptance of self (Arloski, pg. 13). Wellness also consist of and have many other dimensions such as, holistic nature of wellness and health. Wellness focuses more on helping each person reach their highest level of health (Arloski, pg. 13). A biblical worldview of wellness is that it is important to be healthy but unfortunately even Christians continue to abuse their bodies by not adhering to a healthy diet. Our bodies are a temple from God and should be taken care of.
Physical Wellness- Physical Wellness encourages us to take care of our bodies by doing physical activity, eating well, and keep balance of metal health. The more you take care of yourself and the more you exercise, the more your physical wellness goes up.

Wellbeing is a term in which reflects on the positive emphasis on health and can be broken down into six aspects know as environmental, physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual. To achieve a high balance of wellbeing it is vital that a person is able to balance and take care of each aspect effectively. Underdown (2007) implies that in 1948 the World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of disease or infirmity.’ This definition took a holistic view as it mentions mental and social wellbeing and it was supported as it focused on a person being healthy rather than not being ill. However, this definition has been widely criticized. Seedhouse (1986) believed that for someone to be in perfect state of health is unachievable and unrealistic.
There are six separate and distinct categories when defining one’s wellness. Those stages are physical, social, vocational, environmental, psychological, and spiritual. Without one the other could not exist. Physical wellness includes being physically fit, eating nutritiously, and getting adequate sleep. I consider myself to be doing well in this category.
