| 3. Be able to implement and evaluate the personal development plan | 3.1 Discuss the processes required to implement the personal development plan3.2 Evaluate the impact of the personal development plan on the achievement of defined role requirements and organisational objectives3.3 Review and update the personal development plan | The process for the development plan was firstly to research and gain as much information on the courses to make sure they are current and meet my needs and personal Goals. Once this was satisfied i need to look at when and how i was going to complete the courses, a time line and getting the internet installed at my home address was done. Also an interview with the funds/account manager to release the funds to pay for the personal development courses. I had to justify why i wanted to do this course and what benefit to the organisation this would create. I also had to show the course was current and provided the right qualifications. The impact on organisational objectives was positive. Personal improvement on understanding management and leadership will enhance my coaching of junior and senior instructors in leadership and my ITQ skills have already improved to make work more efficient when using IT equipment like power point etc.Reviewing what i have completed is positive and my personal plan is constantly being updated as more of the courses are completed. Both goals are on
During my research a lot of leadership and management theories I have read, watched and listened to in various fields have lead me to believe most come to the same conclusion. I have taken a wide range of examples which I feel to be the most relevant to me and my role.
Personal development planning is a structured and supported process. My personal development is assessed during my supervisions and my annual appraisal. These are an opportunity to assess my performance against relevant standards and to agree targets and outcomes for the future. I can also discuss my knowledge and understanding and achievements, exchange views about work practices and how I can improve.
These are all types of situations where I MUST take an autocratic style of leadership or it could result in being very damaging for all parties concerned including the business.
Your manager has just advised you that you have been accepted into the Management Development Program. You are required to come to the first Development Session with a draft Personal Development Plan. It must include:
Diversity means difference. It recognises that even though people have things in common with each other they are also different in many different ways. Diversity concludes of non-visible and visible which include staff members, culture, personality etc. Characteristics that are included and protected under the legislation are gender, disability, age, race, religion and belief and sexual preferences. As being co-ordinator in the day centre it is important to understand that each staff member is different which will help enable a comfortable and productive environment within the day centre to ensure each individual client feels valued.
Continual Self-Development is the approach where an individual takes prime responsibility and ownership for their own learning and development. This approach requires motivation and commitment in order to exploit learning opportunities and minimise the impact of weakness. A continuing self-development should be undertaken in partnership with the organisation and self-development should enhance the role held within the organisation. There are many benefits to be derived from continual self-development: improve performance and self-confidence; identify and develop specific skills and qualities; increase learning capacity; help achieve potential.
1.3 Identify a range of learning and development opportunities which support the achievement of the personal development plan
Employee development, presents a prime opportunity to expand knowledge of all employees, facilitates cross-training, increases employee engagement, is a retention strategy, and allows to identify those individuals with high potential to support the succession plan. When developing the 1-3-year development plan for my team, I partner with HR to agree on the program, then I start by reviewing their performance reviews, I meet with each team member to learn about their career aspirations, and their areas for development, based on my observation and strategic needs, I will recommend training as well, such as leadership, conflict management, change management etc.; once the final plan is reviewed and approved, is up to the employee and myself to ensure it gets implemented.
To manage the business, one must have a good experience and relevant qualification. The right qualification one must have is an MBA in order to have the right understanding and knowledge you must require. And experience is one thing that will come after a good investment of time in learning and development (miller, 2011).
Personal development objectives are affected by organisations goals, as companies will want to steer their employees in a direction that should meet their corporate strategy and link into the mission statement. However, personal objectives and organisational objectives should tie in together and have a common goal, which should meet the needs of both participants (Dransfield, 2000). Although organisational objectives can hold a negative attribute to employee’s personal development, if the company invests time into employees PDP and employees can see that there is a plan in place for job promotion, then they’re more likely to keep their staff (Cotton, 2011). A future plan will add value to the business as it will improve employee’s skills and personal development strengths which will give a positive effect on the company performance.
Company’s Accelerated Development Program seems like another significant success factors of their overall plan. As part of the Accelerated Development Program, participants put together their intensive personal development experience. For many promising leaders, it is the new experience and challenge. All of a sudden, they find themselves as part of something bigger than the individual business unit where they have been before. Program participants are assigned to coaches from Bank of
For learners the objectives of learning and development are to develop new skills leading to growth in their professional or personal life. There are many ways to identify objectives, they can be identified by the learner and discussed at the review process. Or identified by the organisation and again discussed at the review process. For the organisation the objective of learning and development is to make the workforce more efficient, flexible and able to deliver the organisations results in challenging times. Within Standguide the organisation has created what is known as a competency framework which lays down the skills required for the job role, it is used for promotion, development reward and recognition.
In order to improve in this area, you may want to get some advice on: • the main models and methods for leading organisational change and their strengths and weaknesses • principles and application of risk assessment • how to use different leadership styles and behaviours for different circumstances • the political, bureaucratic and resource barriers to change, and the techniques for dealing with these • how to use different methods of communication in various circumstances •
date. In doing this I will highlight potential areas of development needed and will address these through Personal Development Planning. The rationale for doing this assignment is to enhance my professional development by undertaking an annotated reflective report.
Below is my personal development plan which I had constructed in a previous assignment prior to conducting a skills audit. This plan was constructed considering my current job and the skills I needed to do it capably. I had also considered the potential changes in the years ahead. I noted down
