Pajamas. A piece of loose fitting cloth that provides comfort and instant joy. Pajamas warm the soul. Whether you do not get out of your pajamas on a rough day, or you finally get to put them on after a long day, pajamas are capable of cheering anyone up. Along with these benefits of wearing pajamas, others include that comfortable clothing sets a student up for a better atmosphere to learn in. Although wearing pajamas a good amount of time can be considered lazy and unprofessional, people should learn to wear them more often as they help create a better all around mood. Pajamas provide relief after an awful day. I experienced the so-called “healing power” of pajama pants first hand after having one of the worst days of my life- when my …show more content…
Even if pajamas are not allowed to be worn, other comfortable options can also promote learning. As students who are struggling to pay attention in class after pulling an all-nighter studying, wearing comfortable clothing could help the quality of the upcoming day. If the comfort of clothing affects the way people think, everyone should wear comfortable clothing in order to promote success. Tanya Basu, a writer from the website “Science of Us” states that “In a 2015 study in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, researchers conducted five experiments on 60 American undergraduates testing whether — and if so, how — what you wore translated to what you score.” In order to help promote comfortable learning, an attempt to convince the administration to allow an experiment. This would involve allowing students to wear their most comfortable pajamas to school on important testing days. By doing this, the results would show that students who are comfortable test better. No harm can come from wearing pajamas to school. If the idea is proposed in a polite and respectful way, students may be able to experience more comfort, become happier, have higher attention spans, and receive higher grades. The result of this experiment was that the clothes people wear help them focus in different ways as “In a classroom setting, suits might translate to better performance in
With that being said, as more research about the benefits of uniforms develops, the more common dress code policies are becoming in the United States. With the appropriate research, school officials, parents, and students are becoming more aware of the importance of enforcing dress code policies. As research has shown, uniforms can create a sense of unity and develop self-confidence in students (Caruso). Uniforms can also improve academic performance and limit violence among students (King). While opponents will argue that there is not enough evidence to back up the value of a dress code, research proves that uniforms can be beneficial to school systems. Just as Japan and South Korea have implemented dress codes in their school systems, the time has come for the United States to recognize the value of school uniforms (Yeung). The question still remains, should all schools in the United States be required to enforce a dress code policy? In order to provide optimum learning in the classroom, uniforms are needed now more than
Inappropriately dressing can be distracting and interpret useful class time. School uniforms help our school system in many ways. School uniforms eliminate these issues. It helps eliminate bullying because everyone will be wearing the same. School uniforms also help students score higher on test. It helps teachers not have as many issues from students. Students feel more comfortable when they all look the same so it helps be more welcoming. School uniforms improve students’ education.
Well studies show children with uniforms are more likely to affect the way they act in school with their behavior and their attendance. Academics are a whole other subject, uniforms are not proven to help grades climb, but it is proven to help behavior and pride in their school in which they attend. School pride is almost as important as schools academies.
School uniforms is the key to a bigger, better future. The basic clothing procedure phases out many types of harassment and creates a safe learning environment. Uniforms take away harsh borders that separate classmates and create school spirit. The positive impact school uniform have on students is an overlooked opportunity we must be informed about to create the next successful generation.
Though it may seem completely illogical to think that what a student wears can have an effect on their grades, numerous studies have proven this to be true.”Finally, this shows that the grades are changing for the more distracted students in the class and it is for their best interest and this a way we can create an entirely new future for us that can change for more than the us but for the world.
It helps kids focus, build good standards, and be ready for their future occupations. First off, immodest clothing is a big distraction in the learning environment. You can’t expect someone half naked to not be looked at.
School uniforms are also beneficial in preventing visual distraction amongst the student body within the classroom, because with an effective school uniform policy there are much less dress code violations from both genders that can be seen as provocative attire. .
Eliminating the extensive range of advantages amassed by a Dress Code just to preserve the meaningless freedom of the wardrobe is a an incoherent action done by the majority of schools. A dress code can effectively aid an educational environment in many productive ways. The use of a Stricter wardrobe policy develops a more focused and efficient learning environment that allows for optimum learning.
In fact, there have been no relevant studies proving that dress codes contribute to better behavior and academic success (Rep.). One professor at Berkley University, Dr. Pedro Noguera, said, “I have never seen any study that showed a connection between style of dress and academic success,” (Rep.). The stigma that behavior is directly related to how one dresses is nothing new. Between 1950 and 1960, there was a campaign in schools that advertised “Dress Right, Act Right,” (Rep.). These ideas are only backed by observations that are most certainly
This would most likely help students achieve better grades and be more successful in school. Several schools in the United States have turned to uniforms to, “help students get better grades”. But his will not be as effective as the new and improved resources. As teachers are often too worried about enforcing dress codes and uniform policies, crucial learning time is taken away from other students. Kathleen Modenbach, a teacher at a school with uniforms, believes that when schools try to enforce uniforms, it is a, “...waste of time. The staff should focus their energy on teaching students.” (Hamilton, 24) Also, it was be nearly impossible to make every single kid focus, because they are human. As humans, we may be easily distracted. Sybil Renick, a high school student comments, “Do not think that by forcing students to wear uniforms, that you are going to get the to concentrate more on their studies.” (Cruz, 42) Most people can relate to being distracted and unfortunately, there is not really a way to stop it from happening. Another argument that experts fight, concerning academics and uniforms, is that uniforms improve test scores. David L. Brunsma, an associate professor of sociology at the University of Missouri-Columbia, recently began a study regarding this matter. Brunsma found that uniforms did not improve the student’s test scores, attendance,
Many school administrators and parents believe that uniforms create a better learning environment at school. First and foremost, many administrators claim that students are not as distracted by how they look, and therefore, spend more time learning at school. This allows students to focus more upon their schoolwork, rather than social appearances.” (PAR 3) A parent want to feel at ease knowing that their children is in a safe and secure learning environment when their children are at school. However, being able to provide a safe learning environment will not have the same effect on all students. Some students will still act as if the school uniform never
Waking up or going out, people plan their attire to express how they are feeling. One person is getting pumped up for sports later on in the evening and they want to show their support meanwhile another is feeling under the weather due to the season changes. Then there is that one person that woke up feeling great about themselves. What people are wearing is a clue into their way of thinking and their personality.
While wearing uniforms, students have to obey and follow the rules, so they will learn how to respect others. An article reports “Teachers and principals often report that discipline problems are reduces in schools that implements a standardized dress program.” (School Uniforms). In addition, wearing school uniforms is a step of preparation for professional life. When you have a job, you will have to wear uniforms. Whether you are a doctor or a nurse, you are in the same position. School uniforms also help students to realize that they are a part of a group, so they feel liked they belong and learn to take responsibility for whatever they do.
But, for for realsies, why are footie pajamas better than regular pajamas? I believe that this is do to the fact that you are completely covered from neck to toe in a comfortable material that acts like a blanket to keep you nice a warm as you sleep. You are literally a walking blanket! I sometimes don't even sleep with a blanket because my footie pajamas are so warm a cozy.
School uniforms should definitely be used in school systems. Uniforms are both good for schools as well as for the students. Wearing uniforms will help build a sense of unity within the school. Instead of everyone as a separate team, everyone will be in the same team. Wearing uniforms will help free students of the stress of what to wear in the morning. Wearing school uniforms will help improve student individuality and improve their self-esteem.
