To effectively lead one must have an internal core of ethics that employs both self-care and community care to serve as foundations to the duties of ethical vocation. The following framework for ethical leadership should be dynamic in structure but concrete in commitment. Not having this framework could negatively impact my professional practices by allowing skews in data, or reporting, causing a deficit in data driven decisions. This would result in unsuccessful transformational efforts and a lack of credibility for my professional services. It will also be important to cultivate sensitivity to rationalization of professional conduct to ensure unskewed, unbiased, accurate data driven decisions for schools and districts. My guiding principles include a commitment to honesty, fairness, objectivity, and responsibility as the cornerstones of my ethical framework. Ethics is the guiding force in any respectable organization. With a moral compass, especially in the leadership of organization, a company can become compromised and fall into a quagmire of legal issues, a tarnished reputation, and devaluation of company stock if it is a publically traded company. In pursuit of examine my own ethical lens I will analyze the ethical traits of an admired leader, my own traits as exhibited in the Ethical Lens Inventory, and how I make a decision concerning a particular ethical dilemma.
This paper will first discuss briefly what ethics are and provide the definition for an ethical issue. An ethical leadership issue is identified and explained for this author’s practice area. We will then identify and discuss key strategies for leadership that are pertinent to the ethical issue. Next, empirical evidence which supports the strategies discussed will be analyzed. Then, the impact and importance of the strategies will be stated. The final step will be to provide a conclusion to the reader that summarizes the content and strategies.

My ethical philosophy of leadership would consist of different theories. I don’t believe that just one theory is right or wrong. I feel that for me to be an affective manager that I must utilize many theories to have a better understanding of how to work with my employees. However, to be that affective manger I must also understand that I will need to say “no” and sometimes be stern with my employees.
