The selection of delivered words, symbols, pictures and the like to represent the message to the receivers should be the first step of communication process. This process is called “encoding”, which involves transferring thoughts, ideas, or information into a symbolic form (Powell, Hardy, Hawkin, &Macrury, 2009). They also argue that the sender would encode the message in such a way that can be understood by the receivers in this process (Joseph, 2011). Every words, symbols and signs used should be familiar with all the target audience (Holtzman,2009). For instance, the symbols such as sign of “no parking”, “no smoking” and “no drive in”, all of them have universal meanings in different culture and regions. Other examples can be found in some giant multinational corporations like Coca-Cola trademark, McDonald’s golden arches and Nike’s swoosh, which are widely known all over the world(Holmes, 2005).
As a specific communication type, message could be imperative, indicative or optional nature. Sometimes, a sender may use one message for everybody and for all times, while someone may consider different message for all different audience (Chalkley, Brown, Cinque, Warren, Hobbs & Finn,2012). They also argue that between the two poles there are a few hierarchies.
