Should There Be Changed In The World

If you were given the chance to change three things in the world, what would they be? First, I would get rid of bullying. Low hourly pay is another thing I would change quickly. It could help more than just my family. Finally, I would eliminate absent fathers. If I were given the chance, I would modify these things.

The United States is the third most populated country in the world. This country holds about 4.5% of the world’s population. The U.S. population is currently estimated to have 308.7 million persons. This number is more than double of the population from 1950. Besides the fact of the population has doubled its size, the population has also become qualitatively different from the one from 1950. As noted by the Population Reference Bureau, “The U.S. is getting bigger, older, and more diverse.” The growth of the population is the result of the trends over time in the relationship of increased births, decreased deaths, and increased net immigration.

During the first decade of the new millennium, the average population growth rate was 1%. The problem is that people don’t know how to properly sustain a population at their carrying capacity. Some places have met their carrying capacity but most places haven’t. The places that have don’t know how to make the best of what they have for the amount of population they have to care for. We also have places that have run out of the resources necessary to sustain a population of their current size.

During the 1990’s there was an influx in foreign born population. In Texas the native born population was approximately 15,462,074 people. The foreign born population was 1,524,436 meaning that the population was approximately 9% of the total population in Texas were immigrants. This is a very large percentage considering over the course of twenty years, from 1930 through 1950, the total percentage only grew by 4.7%. Then the population grew another 4.7% in 1970, 6.2% in 1980, 7.9 in 1990, and 9.7% in a single year, 1997. This impacted in the number of available jobs. Foreigners were now coming and filling job openings leaving more people without jobs. In the 1980’s unemployment was approximately 5.2% then in the 1990’s unemployment raised to 6.4%.

Another changing factor is the demography. Both the birth rates and the dead rates keep on decreasing. This will lead to a smaller working population in the future. So far, this gap has been filled by a significant increase in immigrants, especially from EU countries, like Poland, but also from other parts of the world (ONS, 2009). This increase in immigrants has made the UK population more diverse, 8% from the population are not born in the UK of which 5% is from ethnic minorities (Ellis, 2009).

Although unemployment is mainly known for creating disadvantages for both society and the government, however this is not the case as it also creates advantages for everyone. One advantage for being unemployed is, the person is eligible to apply for a wage supplement and unemployment insurance for up to 52 weeks which are both given by the government to assist the unemployed for period of time until they acquire new careers. By giving both of these valuable benefits to the unemployed, it would be like the unemployed would gain a large partial amount of their previous wage. Another advantage for being unemployed is that person experiencing unemployment would have more free time with his or her family. During that free time, unemployed families can go out to events and fun places to relax and have a good time together. As a result, this would create intimate happiness in the family and this would increase bonds in the family. Lastly, a person who is considered can start volunteering in the community since he or she does not have a daily career to go to. This is considered advantageous, because volunteering in a community would help boost a person’s chance of reclaiming another job in the future and increase social skills by meeting new people and forming friendships with them. If I have the power to change the world, I would stop child marriage. Child marriage is the big issue in India near Rajasthan and some poor villages. Their belief is to choose their life partner at the early age. Because of their families poor level, and less education. Child marriage ruins many children's life and future. Child marriage has to stop, otherwise, it will get negative effects on the financial status of children, as well as their freedom and education.
