Tesla Motor--Sustainable Industry The world is calling to the urgency of making progress toward economic development that could be sustained without depleting natural resources or harming the environment. “The term sustainable development means different things to different people. But, in essence, it is concerned with meeting the needs of people today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (World Business Council for Sustainable Development, 2014). Furthermore, sustainable development is a compelling idea for many people. It is concerned with how business can contribute to some of the most significant challenges that the world faces today, such as the

It is the marker of Roadster, Model S and upcoming Model X, which creates vehicles that conform to all U.S. safety, environmental and durability standards. Tesla’s mission is accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable transport with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. In October 17th, 2006, Tesla motors was named a recipient of the Global Green USA product/industrial design award for its work in developing the Tesla Roadster, the worlds’ first all-electric, Lithium-ion battery powered sports car. “There couldn’t be a more important time for these innovators,” said Mikhail Gorbachev, President of Green Cross international, Global Green USA’s parent organization, through an interpreter. “Designing a more sustainable and secure world will make us all safer and healthier”(Tesla Motors, Inc., 2006). Furthermore, “sustainability and resource depletion are among our deepest concerns,” said Martin Eberhard, CEO and co-founder of Tesla Motors. “We set out to design a car that combines style, acceleration and handing with advanced technologies in order to make the Tesla Roadster a viable alternative to fossil-fuel cars” (Tesla Motors, Inc., 2006). In order to enable a continuous reduction in the cost of long range battery packs in parallel with manufacturing at the volumes requires to enable Tesla to meet its goal of advancing mass market electric vehicles.
The concern for the environment has never been bigger than at the turn of the century. The growing acceptance of global warming, coupled with the growing green marketing galore gave impetus for the clamor for major auto companies to build a better and more affordable electric car. This plus the unpredictable oil price spikes and hikes, is intensifying the race to build the ideal car of the future at a greater height.
Not only does this provide the company an opportunity to focus all their efforts on the brand image, but it creates a loyal and devoted customer base, in a sense. Drivers with the mindset that electric vehicles are the future, like Tesla Motors, will share that vision with Tesla and continue to support and buy from them.
Sustainability from a strategic business perspective is the potential for the long-term well-being of the natural environment, including all biological entities, as mutually beneficial interactions among nature and individuals, organizations, and business strategies. (O.C Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). Business sustainably is often defined as managing the triple bottom line – a process by which companies manage their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities. These three impacts are sometimes referred to as profits, people and planet. (Business sustainability definition from financial times lexicon, no date). This essay will discuss the idea of sustainability being an important element within a businesses and its core strategies and the importance of it within different businesses. Secondly, this study will look at how different stakeholders are affected and influenced by sustainability as this could be seen as a catalyst to improving the environment as a whole and. Then this study will look at how businesses not focusing
Through all of this information, Tesla and traditional gas powered car owners have learned more about the Tesla and how it is not as environmentally friendly as society may portray it to be. Hopefully the readers of this paper learn that you must be educated before they buy a certain product.
Tesla Motors is building a luxury brand from scratch (D 'Arcy, 2013). While they started out selling vehicles over $100,000, they have clear ambitions of targeting the middle class with the upcoming Model 3 (D 'Arcy, 2013). Tesla Motors knew it would be far easier for them to start making and selling luxury vehicles at a high markup as compared to selling cheaper models (D 'Arcy, 2013). By starting at such a higher price, they were able to help fund the
Tesla Motors predominantly reflects the environmental aspect of sustainability as on contrary to typical car manufacturers, it has adapted the concept of electric cars as their product which reduce several environmental challenges that conventional cars cannot. The benefits of electric cars include eco friendliness as it does not contaminate the air, energy required for running the cars is cheaper than diesel and fuel, batteries of the cars can be charged through sunlight, low noise pollution, and its “easy assembly and simple design provide reliability and service life of an electric vehicle, expand service interval mileage “resulting in significant cost savings for the owner” (Vynakov & Savolova, 2016). Tesla has a leading-edge innovation in lithium-ion based battery technology which is 500 pounds more lighter then acid-based battery and has a range of up to 300 miles, it is far superior then the original acid-based battery which was extremely bulky and weighed a more then lithium ion-based battery and the acid-based battery had a limited range of only about 60 miles (Mangram, M., 2012).
"Tesla Motors one of the most important company that i know about. it makes energy renewable so that we won't have to used gas and the kids from the future are safer. Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley who wanted to prove that electric cars could be better than gasoline-powered cars. With the capacity that they have to just change the car that brings hope to every person because its renewal. Just image a little boy coffining because there is no clean ear. Picture a old lady dying because her long were polluted by the dirty ear that cars gives us.
The Ford Model T, the world’s first mass produced car. It was a breakthrough in transportation. See, back then, everybody thought that we had unlimited fossil fuels such as gasoline. Then, more recently, scientists discovered that we did indeed have limited resources, they also started to notice the polluted emissions of cars. As the demand for more fuel efficient and more eco friendly cars rose, car companies such as GM, Toyota, as well Mitsubishi invested millions in developing fully electric cars. But, for this research, we will be using Tesla Motors as our model standard. Electric cars are now more popular than ever and now they have been mass produced long enough that we are now finally seeing their long term footprint on the environment, and the results are surprising. Electric cars don’t have an eco footprint as good as many people thought due to how they are produced, how they get their electric power as well as their recyclability-or lack thereof.
Tesla Motors Inc. is an American organization which is known overall due to its involvement in manufacturing, designing and furthermore the offering of electric cars and electric parts for vehicles (tesla, 2017). Tesla now offers a full suite of energy items that fuses sun based, stockpiling, and lattice administrations. By way of the field’s just completely coordinated maintainable energy business, Tesla is at the front of the world 's unavoidable move towards a sustainable energy platform (tesla, 2017).
Tesla’s original mission statement was “to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transport.” However, in the mid of 2016, recent changes in the market and industry propelled the company to restate its mission statement while holding the same vision statement. As it is updated “to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.”, showing a small but meaningful change in the company’s business, to address the potential market opportunities for renewable energy. Tesla’s vision statement is “to create the most compelling car company of the 21st century by driving the world’s transition to electric vehicles.” This vision emphasizes the company’s focus on renewable resources and targets the company to be the most compelling player in the industry. Following its vision and mission statements, Tesla focuses its business on electric sustainable automobiles and related products that are environmental friendly. The company moves toward to the target by combining advanced technology
Under such cases, some research on the famous Tesla Motors, Inc. and its electric vehicles will be conducted in the paper. The study mainly focuses on whether the electric vehicles made by Tesla is really more environmentally-friendly as what people heard about. And will it cost too much in daily use? Although many people assume such electric cars can pollute less, a few people have another theory that such kind of vehicles isn?t as environmentally-friendly as what people expected. In a way, it makes sense because there are still
Tesla electric cars are easier to manufacture than other car factories, which means fewer steps to be taken during assembly and fewer suppliers to process. And the number of parts and components libraries are decreasing. In addition, Tesla can produce 2000 electric cars a week. It can achieve its goal. Therefore, Tesla production process can save time, manpower, resources and money.
The market of the luxury, all-electric sports vehicle lines is extremely competitive and Tesla’s Model S falls under all categories. Yet the demand for this vehicle type is high but volatile. Other automobile manufacturer’s research and development may lead to additional competition in the future.
This is an approach towards considering the finite resources of the Earth. Its goal is defined as working towards developing means by which the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs.
