“What are we going to do! What about my graduation?” Linz repeats frantically over and over, as the daunting reality slowly sat in. Our lives daily routine kept repeating day in and day out, we’d kept delaying the solution, that would make our car stop the silent screams to get our attention. I wondered on that stressful day, when were we too late to just give in and finally listen to the clear indicators the car manufactures put in place to alert drivers when their automobiles were in needed of repair. Our procrastination landed us in the situation we found our self’s on that winter morning. Mid 2011, Linz and I got married, as well as added to our count of children when I gave birth to twins! The stress of having a family of six was slowly starting to show. We were accustomed to taking care of our eight/five-year-old children who use the bathroom without assistance, nevertheless, they could do things on their own. Now we had these new twin babies who required a lot of attention that was mainly at night, as well as double the diaper, baby clothes, and food. We quickly arrived to the realization that we HAD to do more, picking up extra hours at work was not enough. We decided we’d both attend college. Linz came into the marriage with his own vehicle; a Black 4 door, 2003 Chevy Cavalier, he called it “The Bat mobile” nevertheless it was in pristine condition. Our lives became busier with the decision for us to attend to school. Miles were accumulating on the car as more trips
A is for awesome as it perfectly sums up my middle school years. While there were some bumps along the road, I've finally made it to the end of this exciting(2) 8th grade year. Throughout my years at Sierramont Middle School, I've experienced and learned so many valuable skills that I'll always remember. I've met people that changed my life, teachers that inspired and taught me, and experienced the joys of middle school. While there were some people that annoyed me to the point I wanted to explode(10), there were more people who left a positive mark in my life. The teachers I've had have done so much for me and all I can hope for is for all teachers to be recognized more. Teachers are the building blocks(8) to a person's life, yet they are

I noticed you sent an announcement out about seeing our grade as of Friday in the handout section, but when I try and click on that section there is no link for it. Also, from what I can recall, on the quizzes, and Rocketmix I am not doing well in your class and would like any and all suggestions you have for me. I'm feeling upset with myself as I've been doing well in all of my classes since attending the CSUDH I'm on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude. I have had many struggles in the past with school and getting my first Associates degree and I believe being a first generation college student did not help matter but now 10 years have past since my first degree and I've learned to be a better college student since then and going into
My goals for after high school, is to got to Greenville Tech. I have different ideas of what I want to do for my career. I have a lot of plans after high school career-wise. My goal for sure, is to finish college, but there is so much to study,
UCAN is a program that weekly, visits local high schools providing them college mentorships. As part of college mentorship, we aid students, in college applications, financial aid, college essays and college preparation. The program is efficiently split into three parts, so mentees and mentors can take most from it. The three parts consist mainly of helping seniors in the college application process, teaching and mentoring sophomores and juniors about college preparation, preparing for next year. I first joined the UCAN program in Fall 2016, an aspect that really captivated my attention was that we could aid high schools, this really interested me because this was an opportunity that I did not count with in high school. I wanted provided the aid and support that could not receive when I was growing up.
Running Start is an initial advantage over other students upon graduation. By the time of graduation one who has completed this program is granted an Associate’s Degree with their high school diploma. The program allows a student to take college classes while they complete high school. A student who does this program graduates with their Associate’s Degree without cost, Students also get to experience a college atmosphere, and students also have the opportunity to take courses that coincide with their chosen degree or career choice. Running start is a great program for high school students to complete. This is because a student becomes more independent, they have a loss of socialization in high school, and increases in adult social experiences, as well as different school schedules that are likely to not match up when there are breaks or cancellations of classes, which makes it seem as though there are longer breaks of time than the schedule of a full time high school student.
As he did that, I proceeded to tell him to start the engine and move the mirror. “Okay good, now step on the break and put the car into drive,” I pointed at the stick shift. He nodded and did it slowly. “Check your mirrors and make sure nobody is coming up behind us when you pull into the road.” I looked back and forward, scanning the road but there were no cars for miles since we were in the country.
Education and school, these both word always has been the main priorities for all of us. Pursuing the American dream of graduating college can be the best feel ever but it can also cost a price. College tuition is increasing more and more every year due to the fact of the rising economy. With student want to be successful in life they will need an education to a degree, which will land you a decent job in life. The problem is when the cost of gaining that degree outweighs the financial advantage to the career. Many of people are not able to pay for college out of their pocket. The result of this is that students seeking higher education are forced to take out an enormous amount of student loans. College tuition is on the rise, and a lot of students have difficulty paying for their tuitions. To pay for their tuitions, most students have to take out loans and at the end of four years, those students end up in debt. Student loan debts are at an all-time high with so many people graduating from college and having difficulties finding jobs in their career fields. So they have difficulties paying off their student loans and, they also don’t have a full understanding of the term of the loans and their options if they are unable to repay. This means that they are entering the workforce after college already thousands of dollars in debt and under water. I believe that students who borrow money from our government should not pay for their student loans.
Hello, Mr. Coates. I first want to apologize, I'm not really sure how Twitter works, but I hope this goes through. I am Jia Yi Sun. I am a junior from Stuyvesant High School in New York City. In my American Literature class, we are currently reading your book "Between the World and Me". Despite not being African American, I am able to understand so much more about the world around me, especially living in such a diverse and eventful community. It really opened our eyes to the world around us. I usually do the assigned reading of the pages on my train ride home, whenever I look up after reading the book, I start to value and respect people around me so much more. There are so many people that have an amazing story behind them. When I grow up,
My twins, Grace and Hope, were born in November 2011. Despite having a full and busy home life, I was still committed to pursuing medicine and elected to participate in the extended curriculum five-year program after returning to school in the summer of 2012. During that time the twins were nursing, did not sleep at night, had never attended daycare and refused to drink from a bottle. My eldest son, Joshua, was almost five years old and preparing for kindergarten, while my younger son, Caleb, was three and excited to enter pre-school. The past few years have been challenging as I have tried to balance my responsibilities as wife, mother and student; find time to study after helping with the children’s homework, go to countless doctor’s visits, help with classroom parties or field trips, juggle around school vacations, cheer during swimming or soccer, cook, clean,
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life.
Here it is, late in the school year, and what have I accomplished? I have been living in a fantasy world for the past three and a half years. The best years of your life right? Says who? I am not going to deny the fact that I have had the time of my life, but for what? Where am I ?
Monday, May 16th, graduation day. It’s 5:37 in the morning and I remember this cause I never wake up earlier than 8 unless I have to, but today I didn’t have to. It’s the day culminating twelve years of hard work and dedication into a three hour ceremony in which I will actually have to do something with my life other than a routine I believe I’ve perfected throughout these last four years. I roll over and pick up my phone, a dim light comes through a slit in my window shades just to remind me how early it actually is. I can’t fall back asleep so I decide to get out of bed. I sit up on my bed rubbing my eyes trying to make sense of the room around me, I may have lived here for 18 years but I can never find the cord to my ceiling light. I
Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me, that’s a day that I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but nervous, about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There are several reasons why I, still
Stepping upon a simple stage was the best thing I could have ever done. Overseeing the multitude that was there to witness my every word, every tremble, every emotion, and every heart beat, was then that I realized that the sentiment was real. It was essentially the end of time and I could not bear to hold back what I no intentions of doing. Cry. Tears of joy darted down my face as I walked across the stage and received my ultimate gift. With fancy inscription, my gift was entitled “Class of 2009”. I had just graduated.
