I. Principle

II. Procedure:
Preparation (prepare '/2 formulation)
1.
Dissolve 18.6 g of disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate in 1000 ml water,
Standardization (prepare whole formulation, perform three trials)
1. Weigh accurately about 200 mg of chelometric standard calcium carbonate,
2.
Transfer to a 400-ml beaker, add 10 ml of water and swirl to form a slurrY.
3.
Cover the beaker with a watch glass and introduce 2 ml of diluted hydrochloric acid from a pipet inserted between the lip
of the beaker and the edge of the watch glass.
4.
Swirl the contents of the beaker to dissolve the calcium carbonate.
5.
Wash down the sides of the beaker, the outer space of the pipet and the watch glass wiIh water and dilute with wate to
about 100 ml.
6.
With stirring the solution, add about 30 ml of disodium ethylenediarninetetraacetate solution from a 50 ml burette.
7.
Add 15 ml of sodium hydroxide TS and 300 mg of hydroxynaphthol blue indicator, The addition of the indicator wMl turn the
colorless solution to a dark purple color.
8.
Continue the titration with the disodium EDTA solution to a distinct blue end point,
9.
Record the data of the first trial, then conduct two more trials.
10. Calculate the molarity for each trial, then the average molarlity.
