Metallic solids and ionic solids are crystalline forms of solids. They are composed of atoms or ions in an orderly arrangement. Metallic solids are the arrangement of positively charged metallic ions held together by a ‘sea’ of electrons. Ionic solids are formed by the electrostatic attraction between the ions (cations and anions).
