In the assembly below the system can rotate around the vertical axis. The left part is a square where R = 0.1 meters, and the mass of each of the four thin bars is uniform and is 0.1 kg. On the left is a massive sphere of radius R = 0.2 meters and Mass M = 0.3 kg. Assume that the system rotates with constant period T = 2.0 s, when, without any external action, as three leftmost bars detach from the system, leaving only the right vertical bar (on the axis) and sphere . What will be the new period of system revolution?
Note: Note that in this case there is no difference between angular velocity and frequency.
A uniform 2.2-kg cylinder can rotate about an axis through its center at O. The forces applied are: F1 = 7.3 N, F2 = 7.7 N, F3 = 4.3 N, and F4 = 7.0 N. Also, R1 = 15.0 cm and R3 = 4.8 cm. Find the magnitude and direction (+: counterclockwise; -: clockwise) of the angular acceleration of the cylinder.
A wheel in the shape of a flat, heavy, uniform, solid disk is initially at rest at the top of an inclined plane of height 2.00 m when it begins to roll down the incline. If rolling and sliding friction are neglected, what is the linear velocity, in m/s, of the center-of-mass of the wheel when it reached the bottom of the incline?
