Draw $\overline{CD}$

1. of any length.

Select a radius greater than $\frac{1}{2}\overline{CD}$ .

Use this radius and $C$

2. as center draw two arcs above and below the line.

Use the same radius and $D$ as center draw two arcs intersecting the arcs drawn using $J$

3. as center.

Labs the intersecting points as $X$ and $Y$ .

Draw $\overline{XY}$

Thus, $\overline{XY}$ is the perpendicular of $\overline{CD}$ .
