The reason for having magnetic characteristics possesses by iron
Answer to Problem 5RQ
Due to the magnetic domain of the iron, it is magnetic.
Explanation of Solution
When iron is placed inside the magnetic field created by the permanent magnet, then the mechanism due to which it attracts towards the magnet and become a permanent magnet is known as the ferromagnetism.
The interaction between the adjacent atoms is responsible for the clusters of the aligned atoms, which is commonly known as the magnetic domain and responsible for the magnetic property in any atom. But in case of other metals, there is no magnetic domain present. Therefore other metals don’t have the magnetic property.
Conclusion:
Therefore, due to the magnetic domain of the iron, it is magnetic.
