To define: Excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) and inhibitory postsynaptic potential (IPSP).

Introduction: The postsynaptic responses are induced by the presynaptic cleft that releases neurotransmitters between the synaptic cleft. The postsynaptic membrane responds to these neurotransmitters as graded potential, and this is called the postsynaptic potential.
