Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The information regarding the stimulus intensity (quantitative) is encoded in two ways: different neurons have different excitation threshold. A weak stimulus stimulates sensitive nerve cells with lower threshold, but a strong stimulus stimulates neuron with a high threshold. Bringing more neurons in the action part as the signal becomes strong enough is called as recruitment. It allows the nervous system to determine the stimulus strength by type of neuron and number of neurons that are firing.
