Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

Refracting telescopes are the first known practical telescope, these telescopes use glass lenses to focus and collect the light. They play a major role in the study of astronomy and terrestrial application.

Microscope are designed for the very small object which cannot be seen by the naked eyes.

Refracting telescopes are used to see those objects which are at very large distance and cannot be seen by naked eyes. While microscopes are used to see objects, which are very tiny in size and invisible to the naked eyes. The function of both instruments is to magnify objects so that object can be seen by the human eye.

Both instruments use concave and convex glasses but the focal length of these glasses differ in both instruments. For the refracting telescope there is an objective lens produces long focal length while in microscope the objective lens produces short focal length.

Refracting telescope required large diameter of the lens while microscope required small diameter of the lens.

In refracting telescope objective lens is fixed and eyepiece movable while in microscope the objective lens is movable, and eyepiece is fixed.

Conclusion:

Hence, the refracting telescopes are used to see very large object and microscope are used to see very small object.
