Chapter 13, Problem 5SA
Summary Introduction
To compare:
Lysis and budding as the means of release of virions from the host cell.
Introduction:
The lytic cycle is one of the two cycles for bacteriophage reproduction, and another is a lysogenic cycle. The lytic cycle results in the destruction of the infected cell and its membrane. The cell that survives in the lysogenic cycle, its viral genes transfers to the next generation daughter cells.
