Introduction:
Microorganisms are so diverse and versatile in terms of their life processes that they make excellent candidates for solving human problems and addressing human concerns. Humans have been exploiting microorganisms since centuries for their good. For example, yeast has been used for making bread and beer. With the advent of technologies that make it possible for humans to alter the genetic material of microorganisms, novel applications of microorganisms are being developed, some of which address environmental concerns and create industrial products on a large scale.
