The blood circulates essential nutrients, carbon-dioxide and oxygen gas across the blood-brain-barrier. This activates the metabolic reactions in brain. The lack of supply of oxygen in the blood to the brain causes occurrence of cerebrovascular stroke. Degeneration and damage to the blood vessels are caused leading to the various cardiovascular diseases.
