How does meiosis increases variation.
Introduction:
Meiosis is also known as the reductional division as during gamete formation there is reduction in the number of chromosomes. Parent cell contains chromosomes, but gametes contains only chromosomes. At the time of reproduction, the male and female gametes unite together to form a zygote which is diploid in nature as it contains 46 chromosomes. So, the offspring which is formed from zygote inherits the characteristics of both the parents.
