Chapter 14.4, Problem 5CC
Summary Introduction

The micF gene is a non-coding RNA gene that is involved in the stress response of E. coli and related bacteria. The term mic stands for mRNA-interfering complementary RNA. The outer membrane of the gram-negative bacteria possesses channels which are made up of porin proteins. OmpC and OmpF are the two important porins found in E. coli. Omp is referred to as outer membrane protein. The expression of these genes is regulated by the micF gene.
