Chapter 14.5, Problem 7ATS
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

  • The given following ethers maybe formed or not have to be explained.

Concept Introduction:

  • The Williamson ether synthesis is a reaction to converts alcohols (R-OH) into ethers (R-O-R). The first step in this reaction is forming the conjugate base of the alcohol (called an alcoxide) by reacting the alcohol among sodium metal. This reaction forms hydrogen gas (H2) as a byproduct.
  • The SN2 reaction is a type of reaction mechanism that is ordinary in organic chemistry. In this mechanism, one bond is out of order and one bond is formed synchronously. In one step SN2 is a variety of nucleophilic substitution reaction mechanism.
