Interpretation:

The formal charge on the oxygen atom in the given structure has to be found.

Concept Introduction:

Formal charge is the one that is associated with the atom which do not exhibit the expected number of valence electrons.  They are very much important in drawing the structure because ignoring formal charge will lead to a wrong structure information.  Formal charge can be found by knowing the valence electron of the atom and the total number of bonds present in the atom.  Each and every bond is formed by two electrons.  Formal charge can be found by placing the electrons around the atom and comparing it with the valence electrons of that particular atom.  If both are same means, then there is no formal charge on the atom.  If the valence electron is more than the electrons that takes place in the bond, then a negative formal charge is present and vice-versa.
