Question
Chapter 15, Problem 19SAE
Summary Introduction
To review:
The regulation of sodium ion balance, blood pressure, and extracellular fluid (ECF) volume.
Introduction:
Kidney helps in the regulation of the electrolytes and water in the body. Sodium and other ion concentrations are carefully regulated in the body. Sodium ion levels are not only involved in blood pressure, but also controls the function of the nerves and muscles. It also regulates water balance. When the sodium concentration is low in the blood, water enters the tissue from the ECF and causes edema (swelling).
