Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Water is the major component of body fluids and therefore its concentration is carefully regulated by the body. the uptake of water and the loss of water either by urine, sweating, excretion is regulated by various mechanisms. A slight change in water volume in body fluids leads to a chain of responses by different systems of the body to maintain the balance. The decrease in water volume is generally compensated by water uptake which is regulated by various systems working together.

Increase in ADH, Increase in Aldosterone, Increase in thirst C. Decrease in ADH, Decrease in Aldosterone, Increase in thirst   D. Increase ADH, Decrease Aldosterone, Decrease in thirst sensation
Diabetes insipidus:*   a. Hypernatremia due to decreased water intake b. Hypernatremia due to excess water loss c. Hyponatremia due to increased sodium loss d. Hyponatremia due to increased water retention
Explain how the nervous system and the excretory system have to work together to maintain water balance, including both dehydration and excess hydration. What would happen if the nervous system became damaged and could no longer send signals to stimulate the release of ADH ?
