To discuss:
Names and numbers of the cranial and spinal nerves that carry preganglionic fibers of the parasympathetic nervous system and which nerve carries the largest percentage of parasympathetic fibers.
Introduction:
The autonomous nervous system is sub-parted into two namely sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. It mostly regulates the vital organs in terms of individual at rest and digest or feed and breed. It is termed so because of its regulatory function that takes place when the body is at rest in a particular sense after eating, sexual arousal urination, and excretion. Parasympathetic nerve fibers arise from the central nervous system as cranial nerves and spinal nerves. Typical parasympathetic cranial nerves include oculomotor nerve, facial nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve, and vagus nerve. Parasympathetic spinal nerves are also called as pelvic splanchnic nerves.
