Question
Chapter 16, Problem 10cCP
Summary Introduction
To review:
The following:
The role of arterial PCO2 (partial pressure of carbon dioxide) in the regulation of breathing.
The reason for increased ventilation at higher altitude.
Introduction:
Breathing is the process of moving air into and out of the lungs. Breathing is divided into two stages which are inspiration and expiration. During inspiration, the diaphragm contracts and pulls downwards as air fills in the lungs. Expiration occurs with returning of diaphragm to its normal position and shape.
