Explanation

The pre-flow time is the time in which the flows to clear out any air that is in the nozzle or surrounding to the weld zone while the post flow time is the time in which gas continues to flow after the welding current has stopped.

The gas flow rate is measured in cubic feet per hour (cfh). The gas flow rate should be as low as possible because high gas flow rate wastes shielding gases and leads to turbulence, that causes contamination.
