“IS” stands for
- Information Technology deals with products, Methods, Inventions and Standards.
- Information System is a collection of platforms to manage a set of information or Technology products.
- IT = Hardware + Software +Data
- IS = IT + People +Procedures
- As IS comprises of IT, one cay but IT but not IS.
As a future business Manager, it means that Information Systems must be developed, they also need to be maintained and because the fact that business is dynamic, they must be adapted to new requirements. One must learn how to implement the system to accomplish the job tasks.
Three phases in MIS:
Management:
In order to achieve objectives, the organization and coordination of activities in an organization is called Management.
Information:
Information is the knowledge derived from data and the data presented in a meaningful context.
System:
An organized purposeful Structure to carry out a specific activity, perform a duty or solve a problem.
