The second law of thermodynamics postulates that the total entropy of the system of an isolated system can never reduce in time. The entropy of the system remains invariable under ideal conditions i.e. in equilibrium, or a reversible reaction. In all the spontaneous reactions, the total entropy constantly rises and the reaction is irreversible. An increase in the entropy is responsible for the irreversibility of the natural reactions.
