Calculation:

Find the area ratio for (Ar) Shelby tube A using the Equation as follows:

Ar(%)=Do2Di2Di2×100 (1)

Substitute 101.6mm for Do and 98.4mm for Di in Equation (1).

Ar(%)=101.6298.4298.42×100=10,322.569,682.569,682.56×100=0.0660×100=6.61%

A soil sample usually can be considered undisturbed if the area ratio is less than or equal to 10%.

Thus, the area ratio for Shelby tube A is 6.61%_.

Find the area ratio for (Ar) Shelby tube B using the Equation as follows:

Substitute 89mm for Do and 85
