Prokaryotes are the cells that do not have a defined nucleus and have other primitive features. They lack membrane-bound organelles and have circular extra-chromosomal DNA called plasmids. Many of them are found in extreme environments like hot water springs, arid deserts and more. They contain two domains: Bacteria and Archaea.
