What is an elastic limit?
To Explain: An elastic limit.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
An elastic material regains its original size and shape after removal of deforming force. Hooke's law states that amount of stretch is proportional to applied force. If applied force doubles, the material gets double stretched.
Elastic material obeys Hooke's law. If the elastic material is stretched or compressed beyond certain limit then there is permanent change in size and shape. It will not return to its original size and shape. The distance up to which permanent deformation occurs is known as elastic limit.
Conclusion:
Elastic limit up to which any elastic material holds the property of elasticity.
