These are compounds of Hydrogen that comprises of Hydrogen and one other chemical element. The binary hydrogen compounds are called as hydrides even if the hydrogen atom in it is not an anion. The three major groups of binary hydrides are,

- 2) Covalent hydrides
- 3) Metallic hydrides.
