The appearance, relative size and number, and functions of each WBC type, and the conditions under which each type increases in a differential WBC count.
Introduction:
Leukocytes belong to the five different classes that are distinguished functionally and morphologically with each class exhibiting complex internal structural differences.
The leukocytes are broadly categorized based on the presence or absence of specific granular bodies (granulocytes or agranulocytes, respectively) and again are categorized based on further differences. Basophils take up a basic stain (methylene blue) and eosin.
