Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The types of the transition state that might be envisioned and that would decrease the energy of activation of a reaction have to be determined.
Concept Introduction:
In an enzyme-catalyzed reaction firstly the enzyme and substrate approach each other to form an enzyme-substrate complex that undergoes some transformation to form enzyme product and finally the enzyme is removed from the substrate and the product formed is released off.
Significance of transition state: The rate of this enzyme-catalyzed reaction depends upon how readily the transition sate is formed. Faster formation of transition state facilities the reaction as it helps to lower the activation energy.
