To review:
An experimental approach for testing the hypothesis generated in question 1 and its results.
Given:
Figure 1 shows the gene expression pattern for both species 1 and 2 over the course of time.
Introduction:
Transcription factors are the proteins involved in the process of transcribing the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecules into RNA (ribonucleic acid). These factors can repress or activate transcription to regulate expression of a gene within a cell of an organism. Based on the observations from Figure 1, a hypothesis was generated in question 1 and it was stated that the differential timing of expression of transcription factor causes the morphological difference between species 1 and 2. A longer period of high transcription factor’s expression, in species 1 specifically leads to longer abdominal bristles in that species.

EBK LIFE: THE SCIENCE OF BIOLOGY
- Based on the results depicted above, what do you conclude about your hypothesis? Give specific explanations for this conclusion. This should read like part of a discussion in a lab report, with analysis of the results and comparison back to the hypothesis.arrow_forwardexplain the results of this experiment and the purposearrow_forwardPlease provide a tentative description for the given hypothesis (a bit detail will help)arrow_forward
- The procedure to test a hypothesis, consisted of a control group and an experimental group isarrow_forwardCompute and explain:a) Pearson-rb) Hypothesis testingarrow_forwarda) Does the data support your hypothesis? b) How could you improve this experiment? Consider the other factors you could have / should have controlled in this experiment.arrow_forward
- Answer as comprehensively and as briefly as you can. 1. When is a hypothesis accepted? 2. Why is a variable included in an experiment? 3. Discuss the importance of a control in interpreting the results of an experiment.arrow_forwarda. What was the purpose of the Griffith’s experiment? (What question was asked?) b. Briefly explain the roles of Streptococcus pneumoniae and mice (mouse) in the experimental design. To answer this question, be sure that you address the independent variables.and dependent variables. If you wish, you can sketch a labeled figure to support your answer. c. Write a complete null hypothesis for his experiment.arrow_forwardWhich of these questions is not scientifically testable and why?arrow_forward
