Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Cells must use energy to perform their vital functions. The energy of cells is composed of the breakdown of organic substrates. The cell requires ATP for transfer of the energy within the cell. In the metabolic processes, it converts to ADP or AMP. It is a form of energy that is stored by the cell in chemical form and can be used for various cellular processes.

ATP serves as an intermediate molecule in the fuel molecules, which contain a large amount of stored energy (potential energy) in their bonds. It is a ‘molecular unit of energy’ present in all forms of life.
