Granos, Inc. purchased new automated coffee vending machines, the Preso 2000. This Preso
2000 requires a constant 45 seconds to produce a coffee. It has been estimated that customers
will arrive at the vending machine according to a Poisson distribution at an average of one every
50 seconds. To help determine the amount of space needed for the line in front of the vending
machine, Granos, Inc. would like to know the expected average time in the system, the average
line length (in costumers), and the average number of costumers in the system (both in line and
at the vending machine).
Fantasy Park has two service desks, one at each entrance of the park. Customers arrive at each
service desk at an average of one every six minutes. The service rate at each service desk is four
minutes per customer.
Customers' level of satisfaction with a service derives from the perceived value of the service at the point in time of access.
Therefore customer satisfaction is not directly related to
Select one:
a. the timeliness of the service
b. their perception of the service performance
c. their expectations regarding service
d. the qualification of the service staff
Which of the following situations will tend to increase customer dissatisfaction with waiting in line the most?
Select one:
a. The physical location of an operation
b. Bright lights in the banking hall
c. Large numbers of customers
d. Idle workers in the view of customers

There are two servers on duty, and each can process 12 customers per hour. a) What is the system utilization? b) What is the average waiting time for customers who actually have to wait? c) What is the average time customers wait in line for service?arrow_forwardConsider the order delivery system of Heartha Hardware and Construction Supplies:- Customers (whether by bulk or retail) would line up in a counter where sales representatives will entertain them. It would take about 15 minutes before a customer will be entertained due to the number of customers being served by the sales representative and only about 4 sales representatives are on duty every day.- The sales representative will take down the customer’s order in the order slip with corresponding prices. On some cases, she will ask the person in-charge in the warehouse if the items are available. She then forwards the order slip to the cashier.- The cashier would sum-up again manually the order slip from the sales representative to check the accuracy of the footing of the totals as well as the prices indicated. This would take about 10 minutes, depending on the bulk of the order being placed.- The official receipt will be printed and will be given to the…arrow_forward
- c) i. If an M/M/1 queue has utilization of 90%, what do you think will be the average queue length and the average response time? If the arrival rate is 100 jobs per secondii. If an M/D/1 queue has utilization of 80% do you expect its mean queue length and response time to be less, same, or greater than that of an M/M/1? Explain your answer.arrow_forwardgiven the following: A typical TSA agent at Piedmont Triad International Airport takes approximately 1.15 minutes to screeneach passenger that arrives at the security gate. During the day, a passenger arrives at the gate onaverage every 1.3 minutes. Both the service rate and arrival rate follow a Poisson distribution. Based onthis information and the assumption that only one screening line is open at the security gate, answer thefollowing questions with the given information: a) average number of passengers waiting in line to be screened is 7 b) average amount of time (in minutes) passengers spend waiting in line is .147 minutes c) average amount of time (in minutes) passengers spend in the screening system?.166 minutes 1.
