Introduction:

The pH scale provides a means of comparing the concentration of hydroxide ions ( OH-) or hydrogen ion ( H+) in solution. The presence of hydride ion in the solution determines the acidity of the solution while the presence of hydroxide ion in the solution determines the basicity of a solution.
