Introduction:
For all living organisms, there is a challenge for surviving by defeating the entire pathogenic organism. The human body kills the pathogen or eliminates the foreign particles by an organized system called the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system or immune system consists of a group of cells or immune cells, which inhabits all the organs of the body. The lymphatic system includes lymphatic organs and a group of lymphatic tissues that are involved in the immune system. There are two types of immunity; they are innate immunity and adaptive immunity. Adaptive immunity further categorized as cellular and humoral mediated immunity.

- List 3 things that helper T cells do:arrow_forwardDescribe the differences in how an antigen presenting cells (APC) activate a Helper T versus a Cytotoxic T cell.arrow_forwardExplain why the B cells response is described as “humoral”, but the T cell’s response is described as “cell-mediated”?arrow_forward
- Describe the main functions of T cells. What are the main types of effector T cells and their functions? one pagearrow_forwardMany cells in the human body have proteins on the surface that are able to interact with the receptors of helper T cells. Explain the mechanisms and why it is that such an interaction or signal does not usually result in an autoimmune reaction?arrow_forwardCorrectly order the steps in cellular Immunity. Below is a sequence of events. Place them in the order they should occur, number 1 being the first item. Select the step number from the drop down next to each item. Items to order: a) .Cytotoxic T cell (CTL) recognizes the infected host cell b) The CTL secretes perforin and granzyme, causing apoptosis c) The CTL interacts with epitope presented by MHC-I on the dendritic cell d) The helper T cell activates the CTL cellarrow_forward
- How can an extracellular bacterium be targeted by a particular T cell response? Describe the mechanism of antigen presentation.arrow_forwardDescribe how phagocytes recognize foreign cells. Explain the mechanism phagocytes use to kill engulfed cells. List some ways pathogens avoid the consequences of phagocytosis. Describe the cause, advantages and disadvantages of fever. Define complement and its role in host defensearrow_forwardDescribes the relationship of the following terms using short terms: Adhesion Molecule(s)Anergic T cellAntigen PresentationAntigen Processingarrow_forward
