Chapter 2.2, Problem 1MQ
Summary Introduction

Danish bacteriologist Hans Christian Gram developed the Gram staining method. This staining technique helps to differentiate the bacteria of the two larger groups: gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In this technique, primary stains (methylene blue or crystal violet) and secondary stain (safranin) are used for the differentiation of bacteria based on the color retaining ability of the bacterial cells.

Blurred answer
Students have asked these similar questions
What color will a gram-negative cell be after Gram staining bythe conventional method?
What is the function of the mordant used in the Gram staining procedure? If the iodine step is skipped, what color are Gram-negative cells observed
What color wouod gram negative cells appear if the decolorizing step was left out of staining procedure? Why?
