Summary Introduction

Encystment is the formation of the cyst by an organism during unfavorable conditions. Cysts are thick-walled structures that are resistant to desiccation and other harmful conditions. In case of bacteria, the cyst wall is made by added peptidoglycan resulting in thickening of the normal cell wall, whereas in the case of protozoans, it is made up of chitin.
