The α-proteobacteria or Alphaproteobacteria is the most abundant variety of bacteria, the γ-proteobacteria or Gammaproteobacteria is the largest bacterial class with several groups of branches. The Gammaproteobacteria are grouped into two rRNA superfamilies, Enterobacteriaceae, Vibrionaceae, and Pasteurellaceae belong to rRNA superfamily I.
