Helicobacter is a genus containing gram-negative bacteria having helical, straight or curved cells with rounded ends. They are microaerophilic organisms. Helicobacter pylori is the most widely known species of Helicobacter. Helicobacter pylori is a major human pathogen which causes peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer, and gastritis.
