Chapter 23, Problem 13RQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The process of inflammation.

Introduction:

The immune system can respond immediately to any invasion by foreign pathogens, especially microorganisms with the help of a specialized set of cells. Immune cells are recruited to the site of invasion and they release a set of chemicals and soluble factors. The process that prevents the intruder from entering the bloodstream is characterized by pain, warmth, swelling, and redness, this is called inflammation. The inflammation can be of two types- chronic and acute.
