Introduction:

The average body temperature of a healthy individual is 36°C to 38°C. Fever is caused if the temperature exceeds 38°C. Thermoregulatory center is present in the hypothalamus near the brain stem. This center notices any change in the body temperature and acts as a thermostat by altering the blood flow according to the need. The substances that can raise the average temperature of the body are called pyrogens.
