Feedback inhibition refers to the inhibition of enzymatic activity by the final product formed at the end of a sequence of reactions. As depicted in the figure, the final product of the pathway is Z. Z is capable of inhibiting the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of A to B. Without this mechanism, a higher amount of the product is produced than the required amount.
