Explanation of Solution

Introduction: DNA is a nucleic acid, having a double-helical structure, found primarily in the nucleus of the cell.

Deoxyribonucleic acid is the nucleic acid in which the genetic information of an organism is stored in coded form. The DNA stores information and passes it to the RNA at the right time. By decoding or transcipting the right bit of DNA at the right time in the right place, an organism can utilize genetic information required to synthesize the many thousands of proteins necessary for carrying out its biochemical reactions.

The DNA sequence that acts as a code for a specific protein or a polypeptide is called gene. Genetic code is the relationship between the amino acids and nucleotide triplet.

Conclusion: DNA carries the hereditary material (gene) of an organism, and is carried to its offsprings.
